How to Join Audio and Video If Taken Separately

If audio and video are recorded separately, you can join them by placing both on the timeline and aligning them properly. Then, export them together as one video file.

Separating Audio from Video

Steps:

  1. Select the video on the timeline

  2. Right-click

  3. Choose Audio > Detach Audio

Note: In the new version of Filmora, the audio option is available separately. In the older version, the “Detach Audio” option appears directly.

Detach Audio:
Detaching audio means separating the audio from the video. The audio will appear on a separate track below the video on the timeline.

Mute Audio

If you want to mute the audio of your video:

  • Right-click on the video/audio

  • Select Mute

Adjust Audio

This option allows you to reduce background noise.

  • Denoise: Removes background noise (moderately)

  • Fade In: Audio gradually increases from the beginning

  • Fade Out: Audio gradually decreases toward the end

Ducking

  • Lowers the volume of other clips while your main audio plays

  • Helps adjust the volume of background clips accordingly

Audio Menu

From the Audio Menu, you can add different types of audio tracks under your video.

Audio Setting

Using the Ruler/Slider, you can increase or decrease the volume waves (waveform of the voice):

  • Moving toward the + side increases background voice

  • Moving toward the - side decreases background voice

Add Volume Keyframes

Keyframe:
Audio keyframes let you control the volume at specific points in the timeline.

Using this option, you can increase or decrease the sound at particular points in your video.
