 Hyperlink in MS Word

A Hyperlink is used to link text, files, or pictures with another Word document, Excel sheet, or PowerPoint presentation.

Steps to Create a Hyperlink:

  1. Select the text.

  2. Go to Insert Menu → Hyperlink.

  3. Choose the file/document you want to link → Click OK.

  4. Press Ctrl + Click on the hyperlink to open the linked file.

Remove Hyperlink:

  • Select the linked text → Right Click → Remove Hyperlink.

  • Or go to Insert → Hyperlink → Remove Link.


 

 

Bookmark

 Bookmark in MS Word

Bookmark is used to mark any line, paragraph, or section of a document as important.

Steps to Add a Bookmark:

  1. Select the text you want to mark.

  2. Give a bookmark name.

  3. Click on Add.

To See a Bookmark:

  • Go to Insert → Bookmark.

  • Select the bookmark name → Click Go To → then Close.

 

This helps you jump quickly to specific parts of the document.

 

 

Header & footer

 

Header & Footer in MS Word

Header and Footer are areas at the top and bottom of a page where you can add text, page numbers, date, time, or images. Once inserted, the Header & Footer Tools tab appears.

Key Options in Header & Footer Tools:

  1. Go to Footer – Move directly to the footer from the header.

  2. Go to Header – Move directly to the header from the footer.

  3. Different First Page – Keep the first page’s header/footer different.

  4. Different Odd & Even Pages – Apply different headers/footers on odd and even pages.

  5. Show Document Text – View document content while editing headers/footers.

  6. Position – Adjust top/bottom position of header/footer.

  7. Insert Options – You can add Date & Time, Page Numbers, Pictures, Clipart, etc.

Page Number Options:

 

  • Top of Page

  • Bottom of Page

  • Page Margin

  • Current Position

 

 

End Note & foot note

 

Footnote & Endnote

These are used to add explanations, references, or notes in documents.

Footnote:

  • Reference → Insert Footnote

  • Adds a note at the bottom of the page with a reference mark.

Endnote:

 

  • Reference → Insert Endnote

  • Adds a note at the end of the document with a reference mark.
